Alanod strengthens global reach with WhiteOptics® metal business

Surface finishing specialist acquires all metal-related business of US-based manufacturer WhiteOptics®.

Ennepetal, June 21, 2019 – Alanod GmbH & Co. KG (Alanod), surface finishing specialist from Ennepetal, Germany, has taken over all metal-related business from optical component manufacturer, WhiteOptics®, L.L.C. (WhiteOptics®). This follows the recent acquisition of WhiteOptics® by Acuity brands.

WhiteOptics® is a New Castle, DE (US) based manufacturer of advanced optical components used to reflect, diffuse and control light for LED lighting used in commercial and institutional applications. As a shareholder and strategic partner of WhiteOptics® prior to Acuity’s acquisition, Alanod will take over all related metal business of WhiteOptics® with immediate effect and will serve established and new customers with high-reflective white metal surfaces in North America. This will form part of Alanod’s strategic product portfolio offering to the lighting industry.

Alanod plans to establish a supply chain with US division Alanod-Westlake to offer these products to customers outside of North America with supplies coming from Ennepetal, Germany. Oliver Storbeck, Alanod Group CEO, says: "Our participation and the associated takeover of the former WhiteOptics® metal business into the Alanod group is a further step in the implementation of our new strategic orientation for the lighting industry.”

WhiteOptics® will continue to serve its global customers, including Alanod, with the full line of reflective, diffusive and control films and plastics. Alanod is currently investigating further ways to assist global customers by distributing and/or converting in Germany and wider Europe.
